Fast Start Propels Lady Ravens to 19th Win

 

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team were able to get back in the win column at Nellis Hall, using a strong first quarter to cruise to a 76-56 win over the Cloud County Thunderbirds.

 

The Red Ravens came out of the gate strong, going on a 15-0 run in the game's first six minutes to hold an early double-digit lead. The team held the lead the entire night following the opening minute, with Coffeyville shooting 38% from the field, and winning the rebound battle 51-28.

 

The Ravens also spread the ball around on the offensive end, with 21 team assists on 28 made field goals.

 

Aubrey Hishaw led the team with 22 points and 13 rebounds, along with five assists and three steals. Esme Smith finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, and Isabella Pehrson had 16 points with four made 3-point shots.

 

With the victory, the Ravens improve to 19-6 on the season, with a 13-6 record in conference play, currently holding the fourth place position by one game over Seward County. The Red Ravens are on the road this weekend, making the trip across the state to take on the Colby Trojans on Saturday afternoon.
