A fourth-quarter rally allowed the Neodesha Blue Streaks to win a tight league matchup on the road against the Cherryvale Chargers, escaping with a 65-49 victory on Thursday night.
Cherryvale got off to a hot start thanks to contributions from freshman Remington John and junior Carter Rouselle, building a seven-point lead at the end of the opening quarter, and leading by as much as 13 in the first half.
The duo of sophomore Tayte Leck and junior Jayedin Huckabey were key in the second half for Neodesha, helping lead a late run to cut the deficit to one entering the final quarter. The Blue Streaks would continue that momentum in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Chargers 24-7 in the final frame to sweep the regular season series.
Neodesha boys improve to 11-3 with the victory, while Cherryvale falls to 6-9 on the season. In the girls' matchup, Cherryvale claimed a 51-46 victory over the Blue Streaks, with the Chargers improving to 10-6 and the Blue Streaks falling to 11-4.
