Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven men's basketball team came up just short on the road against rival Butler, dropping the game 110-104 on Wednesday night in El Dorado.
CCC was much improved from the first matchup with the Grizzlies, showing much more comfort against the press defense and keeping up on the offensive end. The Ravens took a 58-56 lead to the locker room after a high-scoring first half, with Coffeyville shooting 63% from the field.
Missed free throws began to haunt the Ravens deeper into the second half, with the team finishing just 20-37 at the charity stripe in the loss. Key buckets from Tristan Hankins and Josiah Kirkwood allowed Butler to prevail for their 13th win of the season, and complete the regular-season sweep of CCC.
For the Ravens, Jack Sorrell finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Jeremiah Ibeziako had a double-double, with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Daniel Ntambwe finished with 16 points on 8-9 shooting.
The Red Ravens stumble to 13-6 on the season, and 7-6 in conference play, currently sitting in a four-way tie for fifth with Garden City, Fort Hays Tech Northwest, and Barton.
CCC is scheduled to travel to Independence on Saturday afternoon, weather permitting.
