The Caney Valley Bullpups split a doubleheader Thursday night in Iola; the girls win 61-21 and the boys fall 65-56.
Elyn Washburn led Caney with 19 points, followed by Alex Theiss with 16 and Ameris King-Dunn with ten. The Lady Bullpups jumped out to an early lead with a 22-2 1st quarter and never looked back, outscoring the Lady Mustangs 17-5 in the 2nd quarter and 16-3 in the 3rd quarter. The Lady Bullpups improve to 10-1 on the season.
The Iola Mustangs used three point shooting to gain the early lead; they led 31-20 at half enroute to the win. Layne Denny led the Bullpups with 20 points, followed by Payton Darden with 19. Caney falls to 8-3 on the season.
Both teams will be back in action next week at the Ramona Invitational. the Lady Bullpups take Riverfield Thursday afternoon at 1:00, while the boys will face host Caney Valley, Oklahoma, Thursday night at 8:30 p.m.
