The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Spirit Squad will be competing at the highest level this weekend, taking part in the Universal Cheer Association and Universal Dance Association nationals in Orlando, Florida.
This is the second consecutive year the program has made the trip to Florida, but also just the second time in the past decade. Spirit Squad Head Coach Sarah Schwatken says it's an exciting opportunity to be a part of this event.
Both the cheer team and dance team will be a part of Friday afternoon's performance, with a combined routine being designed. Sophomore member Mariiah Shobe says she is looking forward to the collaborative efforts of the program this weekend.
Sophomore cheerleader Jaysha Herrera was a part of the program's trip to Orlando last year. She says its a special event for anyone involved in the cheer or dance at the college level.
The team will perform at 2:14 p.m. on Friday afternoon, and the performance can be viewed with a payment to Varsity.com.
