The Fredonia Yellow Jackets prevail in a back-and-forth thriller against the Humboldt Cubs, winning the game 65-63 in front of the home fans.

 

The game was tight all night, with the largest lead held by either team just ten points. Fredonia led by one after the first quarter, before Humboldt took a seven point lead to the locker room. The Yellow Jackets ended the third quarter on an 8-0 run to get within two, and would make the necessary plays late to win a nailbiter.

 

Junior Kamden Barnett, who entered the night top 15 in the state in scoring, finished with a game-high 34 points. Senior guard Hayden Kelly of Humboldt finished with 30 points, but fouled out with ten seconds left.

 

On the girls side, Humboldt was able to use a strong first half to cruise to a 55-31 victory over Fredonia. KGGF will be back at Fredonia on Friday night, when the Yellow Jackets host the Hornets of Chetopa.
