Oklahoma State Cowboy football has found their next head coach, agreeing to terms with North Texas head football coach Eric Morris.
Morris is in his third season at North Texas, where he has posted a record of 21-15, including a 10-1 record this season, and one of the top contenders for the automatic college football playoff spot given to the best Group of 5 team. Coach Morris is expected to stay with the Mean Green for the remainder of the season.
Morris also served as an offensive coordinator at both Texas Tech and Washington State, where he worked with quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes, Cam Ward, and John Mateer.
Oklahoma State Athletic Director Chad Weiberg released a statement, saying "Today begins the next era of Oklahoma State football. Coach Morris has proven his ability to build and lead winning football programs. He has consistently identified, recruited, and developed some of the best players in college."
Morris replaces Mike Gundy, who was fired in September after 21 seasons leading the Cowboys.
