The Red Ravens were able to learn from the conference-opening losses to Butler, bouncing back in a big way in a pair of wins over Independence at Nellis Hall.
The Lady Ravens earned a 62-29 win over the Pirates in the opener, holding ICC to just 18% shooting on the afternoon. Head Coach Tony Turner says the team did a nice job of learning from Wednesday's loss.
Aubrey Hishaw finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds, while sophomore Nuria Rubio added nine points off the bench. The Lady Ravens travel to Seward County to battle a first-place Saints team. Turner says the team has already begun preparation.
The men's team survived an early test from the Pirates, outscoring Independence 58-36 in the second half on their way to a 99-76 victory. Freshman Jeremiah Ibeziako had 29 points and eight rebounds. He says he took advantage of some early matchups in the first half.
Ibeziako's 29 points are the most scored by a Raven this season. Assistant Coach Jordan Bailey says the freshman is just scratching the surface of what he can be on the floor.
Both teams hit the road for the first time in conference play, traveling to Liberal for a matchup with the Seward County Saints on Tuesday night.
