Royals, Perez Agree to Two Year Extension

One of the greatest players in Kansas City Royals history will be staying in blue for a little longer.

Catcher Salvador Perez has agreed to a two-year extension that runs through the 2027 season. The deal is worth a reported $25 million guaranteed, with a $7 million signing bonus.

Perez had a club option for 2026 worth $13.5 million, but the organization declined it to reach this new deal, which is worth slightly less money per year, but ensures an extra year under contract.

Perez has played 14 seasons with the Royals, and has won a World Series, five gold gloves, five silver sluggers, and is a nine-time All Star, as well as the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award winner. He is 14 home runs shy of tying George Brett's team record.
