Ravens Survive Storm, Beat Tritons

Coffeyville Community College football picks up their fourth win of the season, and their third against a Top-10 opponent, beating the No. 9 Iowa Central Tritons 34-21.

It was a wet and sloppy day at Veterans Memorial Stadium, with both teams dealing with the elements in terms of fumbles and dropped passes.

CCC scored the first 17 points of the game, with kicker Aidan Burgess connecting on a 26-yard field goal, before tight end Ryley Zalusky and running back Steven Robinson each scored touchdowns for the second straight week.

Freshman wide receiver Michael Kenon made the biggest play of his career, hauling in a 54-yard touchdown just before halftime.

Iowa Central would attempt a furious rally in the second half, pulling within three points early in the fourth quarter. The Red Raven defense would do just enough, in large part thanks to a key interception from sophomore Brandon Heyward.

Coffeyville improves to 4-2 on the season, and stay atop the Jayhawk conference at the halfway point of the season. The Ravens travel to Hutchinson this week, for a battle with the No. 1 Blue Dragons on Saturday night.
