CCC Athletics to Induct Hall of Fame Class

The newest class of Red Raven football Hall of Famers will be inducted this weekend, with the school and athletic department recognizing some of the best athletes in program history.

Wide receiver Devin Thomas spent two seasons in Coffeyville (2004-05), where he was named All-KJCCC second team in his redshirt freshman season in 2005, where he made 33 catches for 674 yards and five touchdowns. Thomas then transferred to Michigan State University, where he set a school record with 79 catches for 1,260 yards and eight touchdowns. Thomas played four seasons in the NFL with Washington, Carolina, and the New York Giants, making 40 catches for 445 yards.

Offensive lineman James Carpenter was a two-time first-team all-conference selection playing left tackle for the Red Ravens, including being a first-team NJCAA All-American in 2008. Carpenter would transfer to Alabama, where he spent two seasons as the starting left tackle, winning the 2009 BCS National Championship. He was a first-round pick in 2011 by the Seattle Seahawks, and spent 11 seasons in the NFL, starting 128 games.

The entire 1990 Red Raven national champion offensive line will be inducted, featuring Chuck Pope, Todd Murphy, Bryce Nelson, D.J. O'Conner, Steve Green, Bill Stevens, Paul Bagsby, Jim Maxwell, Bud Young, Murray Zogg, and Kevin Saindon. The 1990 offensive line was one of the most successful in school history, helping anchor an 11-0 national championship season. Green was named 1st-Team all-conference and 2nd-Team All-American, while Murphy was named 1st-Team all-conference, and O'Conner being all-conference honorable mention.
