A former Osage City and Butler Community College standout on the football field has been recognized as the Division 2 National Defensive Player of the Week.
Linebacker Landon Boss was all over the field, in Emporia State's 31-24 win over Missouri Southern on Saturday, accounting for 11 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception, and tying a school record with four sacks.
The junior leads the MIAA conference in sacks, tackles for loss, and solo tackles, and ranks top 10 in the nation in all three categories.
Boss is the first Hornet to earn National Defensive Player of the Week since Jace McDown in 2018. Emporia State travels to Central Oklahoma for a matchup on Saturday night.
