Cherryvale to Recognize Historic Football Team

Cherryvale High School will be celebrating one of the greatest sports teams in school history later this month, during the final home football game on October 17th.

The district will be recognizing the 50-year anniversary of the 1975 state runner-up Chargers football team, that finished 12-1 on the season, with the lone loss coming to the Beloit Trojans in the championship game.

High School Principal James Renfro says that was a special team for the entire community.

That game will also be Senior Night for the Chargers, who host the Bluestem Lions in their final regular season home game. Renfro says there will numerous events and activities for the 1975 team alumni.

The Cherryvale-Bluestem game can be heard on Classic Hits 104.1 FM, with coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. CT on October 17th.
