South Coffeyville Softball Off to Regionals

South Coffeyville Lady Lions softball makes their first regional appearance in program history, beginning the regional tournament this afternoon.

The program hosted the district playoffs last week, and won the district tournament for the first time in school history. In the most recent Class B rankings, the Lady Lions are the 18th-ranked team in the state of Oklahoma.

Coach Jeremy Rogers says he couldn't be happier with the season the team has had.

The team continues their historic season at the Red Oak Regional, which also features host Red Oak, Davenport, and Prue. The regional is a double-elimination style bracket, with a winner crowned on Friday afternoon. Rogers says all four teams are some of Oklahoma's best.

The Lady Lions enter uncharted territory, having never appeared in a regional tournament before today. Rogers says he wants the girls to embrace the stage and enjoy it.

South Coffeyville opens with Davenport this afternoon at 2 p.m. CT, and would play their second game at 4 p.m. if they lose, or 6 p.m. if they win.
