Red Raven football made the most of rivalry week at Veterans Memorial Stadium, not only defeating rival Butler 31-28, but also honoring the 50th anniversary of the 1975 undefeated team.
The 1975 Red Ravens went 11-0 and finished No. 2 in the national polls, finishing the season with a Wool Bowl victory over New Mexico Military. It was also legendary head coach Dick Foster's first season in Coffeyville.
KGGF's Chris Freund spoke with a pair of the team's players, quarterback Tim Pivanka and offensive lineman Murray Stenzel, both of who are in the Red Raven Athletics Hall of Fame. They say the memories always stick with you over the years.
The alumni were also given tours of the newly remodeled Dick Foster Complex, featuring new locker rooms, weight rooms, and the Hall of Champions. Pivanka and Stenzel say the changes make this one of the best facilities in the nation.
Coffeyville football currently sits in first place in the KJCCC with a 2-0 league record. The Ravens host No. 2 Iowa Western on Saturday afternoon.
