Classification Changes for Football for 2026 and 2027

 

Some area high schools are changing classifications for the 2026 and 2027 football season.

 

Neodesha and Baxter Springs are moving back down to 2A from 3A. The classification range for 3A is 184 to 317 enrollment and 2A is 124 to 181. Baxter Springs will have the second highest number of enrollment in 2A at 179 and Neodesha the fifth highest at 175. They join other area schools of Caney, Galena, Cherryvale, Fredonia, Riverton and Humbodlt.

 

Eureka is dropping down from 2A to 1A with an enrollment of 117 tied for seventh highest in a range of 69 to 124. Erie is dropping down from 1A to 8-Man Division I. Despite moving from 1A Erie has only the 20th highest enrollment at 81 in a range from 70-104. Erie joins Oswego and West Elk in Division I. Sedan is dropping down from Division I to Division II.
