The Bullpups led from beginning to end as they defeated the Erie Red Devils 52-6 in Week 2 football action last night.
Traxcyn Garton scored a rushing touchdown from the third play from scrimmage for the early 8-0 lead, and after a three and out by Erie, sophomore Konnor Paulie scored on a 57-yard punt return to extend the lead to 16-0. Austin Freisberg added a 55-yard interception return for a TD, and freshmen Garrett Eytcheson added a long touchdown run in the 4th quarter. Layne Denny connected with fellow junior Drake Roberds for several completions, including a touchdown in the win.
Erie's only score came in the 2nd quarter, when sophomore receiver Quincy Brown scored on an 89-yard touchdown catch.
Caney improved to 2-0 on the season, while Erie falls to 0-2. Erie travels to Humboldt next Friday, while Caney takes on Neodesha in homecoming.
