Bullpups Look to Open Season Strong Against Cubs

The Caney Valley Bullpups have a tough task in their first game of the football season, as the Humboldt Cubs travel to Caney for a Military Night matchup.

After a 6-3 season last year and a first round exit in the playoffs, the Pups turn to a team full of juniors, including quarterback Layne Denny, and backs Jacob McVey, Traxcyn Garton and Raydn Martin. Head Coach Criss Davis says while running the ball is important, so is the passing game.

Davis says the team put in a lot of work in the summer to improve the Bullpups passing attack, adding that the team is ready to implement the added scheme to the offense.

With the first game also being Military Night, Davis says it's a great way to start the season.

Pregame begins around 6:45, with kickoff at 7:00, on PupNation on YouTube and U-S 98.
