The Kansas City Royals will be without an All-Star starting pitcher for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Left-hander Kris Bubic has been shut down for the rest of the season, due to a left rotator cuff strain in his pitching shoulder. He walked the first four batters he faced on Saturday, before exiting in the third inning.
The injury is just the latest to impact the KC rotation, with Cole Ragans still on the injured list with the same injury, as well as both Michael Lorenzen and Daniel Lynch on the injured list.
Kansas City is in the thick of a playoff chase, currently sitting 4.5 games back in the Wild Card standings with 55 games left in the season.
Bubic finishes his season with a 2.55 ERA, which ranks fifth-best in the American League.
