Time is running out for the Kansas City Royals, needing a surge before the trade deadline to stay in playoff contention.
The team dropped two of three games this weekend in Miami against the Marlins, but were able to salvage the series finale with a 7-4 win yesterday. Salvador Perez hit his 15th home run of the season, and Jonathan India drove in two runs.
Another player who made a big impact was rookie Jac Caglianone, who had a double in the third inning. Manager Matt Quatraro says Caglianone has been seeing the ball better lately.
Kansas City sits 5.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, with the Cubs and Guardians on the schedule this week. Quatraro says the team has to have a short memory and gain momentum.
Coverage of the series opener with the Cubs begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. CT on the Mighty 690, KGGF.
