Chiefs' Rice Receives Probation, 30 Days Jail Time

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been sentenced to 30 days of jail time, as well as five years of probation, following a multicar crash last year.

According to a release from the Dallas County District Attorney's office, Rice pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges; collision involving serious bodily injury, and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. A Dallas district court judge ruled that Rice can serve the jail time at any point during the five-year probation period.

Rice also paid over $115,000 in restitution to the victims of the March 2024 crash for their medical expenses. ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter says the NFL will now begin the process of determining a proper punishment for Rice.

Early reports indicate the suspension is likely to be between four and eight games. Rice suffered a torn ACL in his right knee last season, but is expected to be ready for training camp next week.
