A pair of Red Raven men's basketball stars put on a show at one of the nation's top showcases for junior college basketball players.
Sophomore forwards Abdul Rashid Kuta and Daniel Ntambwe competed in the JA48 showcase, a two-day event in Richmond, Virginia that features 48 of the best junior college basketball players in the nation.
Both Kuta and Ntambwe made large impacts in their freshman season, with both emerging as starters for Jay Herkelman's team that finished with a 24-8 record and second place in the Jayhawk conference. Both players earned 2nd-Team All-KJCCC as true freshmen as well.
Kuta is from Greater Accra Ghana, and averaged 11 points and seven rebounds on 60% shooting in his freshman season, appearing in 32 games. Ntambwe is from the DR of Congo, and played at Huntington Prep. He averaged 8.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 32 games, and 25 starts.
Both Kuta and Ntambwe are returning to Coffeyville for their sophomore seasons, where they are expected to be among the best players in the KJCCC.
