Area high school football teams continue to prepare for the 2025 season, and the Cherryvale Chargers look to contend under a new head coach.
Cherryvale opens the season on September 5th, traveling to conference rival Neodesha. The Charger home opener will be the following Friday night against Humboldt.
A trip to Eureka in Week 3, followed by a home game with Riverton in Week 4 is how the first half wraps up. The Chargers open the second half of the season hosting Caney for Homecoming night on October 3rd.
Two of the final three regular season games are on the road for Cherryvale, traveling to Galena in Week 6, and Fredonia on the last night of the regular season on October 24th. Senior night will be against Bluestem on October 17th.
Harry Hester takes over the reigns as head coach, where he served previously from 2008-19. Under Hester's leadership, Cherryvale won nine games in 2008, ten games in 2009, and eight games in 2013 and 2015. The Chargers went 3-6 last season.
