Fall sports will be ramping up in just a few weeks in Northeast Oklahoma, but even winter sports are getting work in during the summer months in preparation for the season.
Bartlesville High School girls' basketball has been building chemistry and reps during the past several weeks, and are looking to fill production left by two graduating starters. Fifth-year Head Coach Justyn Shaw says the Lady Bruins have been getting better consistently.
Leading scorer Sami Shaeffer returns, as do starters Emma Zimmerman and Kenzie Denny. The team recently went to team camps around the area, playing in nearly 20 competitive games. Shaw says the girls did a great job in the camps.
Shaeffer is receiving Division 1 and 2 looks heading into her senior season. The Lady Bruins are coming off a 13-12 season with a loss to Broken Arrow in the 6A Regionals.
