The Kansas City Royals are adding depth to the organization's starting pitching, in the form of a former American League Cy Young Award winner.
Left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel has agreed to a minor league contract with KC, and will report to Triple-A Omaha. He will earn a prorated $2 million salary if he is called up to the major leagues.
Keuchel has not appeared in the majors since July 18, 2024 when he was designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers, and elected free agency. In four starts in Milwaukee, Keuchel had a 5.40 earned run average in 16 innings.
The lefty is known for his time with the Houston Astros, where he spent seven seasons, winning the 2017 World Series and the 2015 Cy Young Award. He is a two-time All-Star and five-time gold glove award winner.
