A pair of Kansas City Royals will be heading to Atlanta next week to participate in the MLB All-Star Game.
Shortstop Bobby Witt Jr, and starting pitcher Kris Bubic, were selected as the team's representatives when the full rosters were revealed over the weekend.
Witt Jr has continued to establish himself as one of the top overall talents in the league, hitting .292 with 12 home runs, 49 runs batted in, and leading the MLB with 30 doubles. He says it's an exciting feeling to be recognized as one of the best.
Bubic is heading to his first All-Star game after overcoming Tommy John surgery and re-entering the Royals rotation this season. He has a 2.36 earned run average across 17 starts, with 107 strikeouts in 103 innings pitched. He says he has plenty of people to thank along the way.
The Royals wrap up the first half of the season with the Pirates and Mets at home this week, before the All-Star festivities get underway next week.
