Longtime Chiefs Mascot Calls it a Career

One of the longest tenured members of the Kansas City Chiefs has called it a career, announcing his retirement.

Dan Meers, better known as KC Wolf, has retired following 35 years as the team's mascot and "Director of Shenanigans."

Meers is a native of St. Charles, Missouri, and spent four years as Truman the Tiger while attending the University of Missouri. He became KC Wolf in 1989, and has performed in 375 total games at GEHA Field at Arrowhead, as well as six international games.

He says he can't begin to thank the fans of the Chiefs organization enough.

KC Wolf became the first NFL mascot inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2006, and Meers remains the only mascot ever inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. He will continue to be involved with the organization as a consultant and reserve KC Wolf, with the team looking for the next full-time face of the franchise.
