IHS Golfer Wins 4A State Title

 

An Independence High School golfer is the 4A state champion.

 

Junior Ethan Small of IHS won the 4A State Golf Championship by one stroke, after posting a -2 score through the two day competition.

 

Small was able to hold off junior Regan Kueker of Wamego for the title, with Griffin Bloemker of Bishop Miege in third, Breckin Miller of Wamego in fourth, and Kaden Tyner of Wamego in fifth.

 

Wamego won the team championship with a final score of 309, with Topeka Hayden second, and Bishop Miege third. IHS finished seventh with a score of 333.

 

Small is a two-time SEK league champion, and becomes the first Bulldog state champion since Tyler Sullivan in 2003.
