The quest for a Region Championship for Red Raven baseball continues this afternoon, with the team battling the Barton Cougars in Salina.
Coffeyville enters the matchup 34-18 on the season, and swept the Butler Grizzlies in the opening series. Barton is the top overall seed at 42-11, and swept Neosho County in the opening series. CCC and Barton went 1-1 in two games against each other this season.
Cross Dowd gets the ball for the Red Ravens, and is coming off of his best start of the season, pitching seven innings of one run ball with a career high 11 strikeouts against Butler. Sophomore Anthony Treto is the projected starter for the Cougars, who has a 4.97 ERA in 12 games this season, but pitched seven shutout innings in his last start.
The winner of today's contest will face the winner of Cowley and Hutchinson tomorrow, while the loser will look to keep their season alive in an elimination game.
