Former Top Prospect Thriving with Royals

A former Top 30 prospect in Major League Baseball is finding his footing in the Royals' outfield.

Drew Waters was a second-round pick by Atlanta in 2017, and quickly became the organization's top prospect and the No. 26 prospect in baseball. He was traded to the Royals for a Competitive Balance pick in 2022.

Waters has struggled in his time in the majors over the last three seasons, but has found a groove as of late, hitting .280 with an .801 OPS, including .370 in the past eight games. He says the clubhouse has given him the comfort to make an impact.

Waters has been given the opportunity to play daily, after the team optioned MJ Melendez to the minor leagues. Waters says having consistent reps makes all the difference.

Waters and the Royals begin a series in Tampa Bay tonight against the Rays, with coverage beginning at 6 on the Mighty 690, KGGF.
