A West Elk eighth grader made school history yesterday, breaking the school record in the 800m.

 

Ryatt Griesel set a new school best in the event, running a time of 2:14.1, which broke the school record set in 1995.

 

Griesel is a contributor for the Patriots in a number of events, posting a 13-feet-9-inches personal best in the long jump, a 1:01.3 best in the 400m, and a 5:17.5 best in the 1600m.

 

Ryatt will be a key member of the high school team beginning next year.
