Red Raven baseball will look to clinch a first-round home playoff series as they begin a series with the Johnson County Cavaliers.

 

Johnson County enters the series second in the Jayhawk East, and the No. 8 ranked team in the country. Coffeyville is third in the conference, and is one win or Fort Scott loss away from clinching a Top 4 seed, and first round home series.

 

Head Coach Jake Martin says Johnson County is one of the toughest teams on the schedule.

 

Saturday's games at Walter Johnson Park are also Conner Taylor Suicide Prevention and Awareness Day, remembering the life and impact of former Red Raven player Conner Taylor. Martin says Taylor has meant a lot to the Raven program.

 

In between the two games, a current member of the team will receive the Conner Taylor award, which has been awarded for nine seasons. Martin says they look for a certain type of player that resembles Taylor's values.

 

Saturday's doubleheader can be hear on Sonshine 98.9 KQQF, with the games beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
