Former Frontenac Softball Star Breaks Pitt State Record

A former Frontenac high school softball star is now excelling at the college level, breaking a record at Pittsburg State.

Junior Heather Arnett is now the Gorillas all-time hits leader, picking up her 251st career hit over the weekend. Heather won the MIAA Player of the Year as a sophomore last season, and is considered one of the best players in all of Division 2.

The former Raider set several state records in her high school career, winning two state titles and still holding the Kansas record for most hits in a season, with 68 in 2022.

Arnett is hitting .512 this season, which is the best mark in the country, and has 12 doubles, two homers, and 29 runs batted in. The career hits record for the MIAA is 308, which Arnett is on track to beat in her senior season.

The former Southeast Kansas high school star has an opportunity to go down as one of the best MIAA softball players of all time.
