The Kansas City Chiefs are adding a young spark to the running back room, agreeing to a deal with former San Francisco 49er Elijah Mitchell.
Mitchell is a player that brings intruiging speed and big-play potential, running a 4.38 40-yard dash at the 2021 NFL combine. He does come with uncertainty, however, battling hamstring injuries and inconsistency the past three seasons.
Mitchell ran for 963 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie in Kyle Shanahan's offense. He missed all of last season due to injury, but is currently fully healthy and will participate in offseason practices next month.
The 26-year old joins Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt on the roster, and will help to replace production lost by Samaje Perine, who signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency.
