The NFL owners have reached decisions on a number of adjustments to active rules in the league.
The dynamic kickoff will remain in place, with the ball spot on touchbacks being now at the 35-yard line rather than the 30-yard line. The league debuted the kickoff last season, and saw 332 more kickoff returns, resulting in 59 big-play returns, the highest since the 2016 season.
The league also passed a proposal made by the Philadelphia Eagles that grants both teams the opportunity to have a possession in an overtime game. The playoff rules will translate to the regular season moving forward regarding OT possessions, with the only difference being regular season overtime being 10 minutes, while postseason overtime is continuous.
Finally, the league passed a proposal from the Competition Committee to expand instant replay's ability to advise on-field officials on specific aspects of a play, or address game administration issues when clear video evidence is present.
