The National Tournament is approaching a conclusion, and a pair of Jayhawk conference teams are still alive in the bid for a national championship.
The Barton Cougars men fell to Daytona State College in a 73-70 defeat on Tuesday. Brent Moss had 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars, but guard Dre Kindell was held to just five points, battling foul trouble. Barton finishes the season 26-9.
Cowley also had their season come to an end, falling 61-60 to the Trinity Valley Cardinals. KJCCC Player of the Year Marcus Whitlock had 22 points, but free throw line struggles hurt the Tigers late. Cowley finishes the season 30-5.
The Hutchinson and Dodge City women's teams are still alive in the championship chase. The Blue Dragons won a close battle with South Georgia Tech, and play this afternoon against No. 6 seed Three Rivers. Dodge City earned a convincing win against Arizona Western, and await their Quarterfinal opponent tomorrow.
