Red Raven baseball has had one of the league's best pitching staffs thus far this season, and the leader of the staff was recognized as the KJCCC East PItcher of the Week.
Sophomore right-hander Cross Dowd improved to 3-2 on the season with a complete-game performance in CCC's 5-1 win over Highland. The win sparked a four-game sweep of the Scotties, and propeled the Ravens into a first-place tie in the conference standings.
Dowd fired seven innings, allowing only one run on five hits, while striking out seven Highland hitters. The Anderson, Missouri, product has thrown 29.1 innings on the season, and has a 2.45 ERA with only 19 hits allowed on the season.
Cross Dowd will be on the mound this afternoon when the Ravens open a series with the Cowley Tigers, with two games in Arkansas City today, before two games at Walter Johnson Park on Saturday afternoon.
