Royals Set Opening Day Pitching Staff

The Kansas City Royals have made the final roster moves necessary to set the Opening Day 13-man pitching staff for the 2025 season.

The starting rotation will be led by ace Cole Ragans, who takes the mound for the season opener on Thursday afternoon. Ragans will be followed in the rotation by Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, Michael Lorenzen, and Kris Bubic.

Bubic earned the final rotation spot after pitching out of the bullpen during the 2024 season.

The bullpen will be headlined by the big three of Lucas Erceg, Hunter Harvey, and free agent signing Carlos Estevez. John Schreiber, Chris Stratton, Angel Zerpa, Sam Long, and Daniel Lynch IV round out the eight-man relief group.

Kansas City boasts one of the deepest and most talented pitching staffs in baseball, and will hope the staff can carry them back to the postseason. The team opens the season on Thursday afternoon against the Cleveland Guardians, with coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT on the Mighty 690, KGGF.
