With Opening Day just days away, the Kansas City Royals are making late additions to the roster in preparation for the 2025 season.
The team acquired outfielder Mark Canha from the Milwaukee Brewers, in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later. Canha is 36 years old, and has spent time with four different teams in his ten-year MLB career.
Manager Matt Quatraro says the team is excited to add a versatile player like Canha.
Kansas City frequently uses bench players in platoon roles, or for pinch hitting or baserunning opportunities. Quatraro says Canha fits the team identity of guys that can do it all.
Canha had three hits in his Royals debut in the final game of spring training, and will travel with the team back to Kauffman Stadium for the season opener on Thursday.
