For the first time in more than two decades, the Kansas State Wildcats women's basketball team is heading to the Sweet 16.
The team won a thriller over No. 4 seed Kentucky yesterday, surviving for an 80-79 overtime win. The Wildcats battled back from down five with under two minutes to play, and made key plays late to advance to the second weekend.
Head Coach Jeff Mittie says he's proud of the team's resilience in the victory.
Ayoka Lee continued to contribute since her return from injury, adding 16 points and nine rebounds. Serena Sundell finished with 19 points and 14 assists as well.
Mittie says the team has found their stride at the perfect time.
KSU will look to punch their ticket to the Elite Eight, when they match up with the winner of USC and Mississippi State later this week.
