The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back a pair of familiar faces, agreeing to one-year deals with both a veteran wide receiver and running back.
JuJu Smith-Schuster has agreed to a one-year contract to return to Kansas City, after playing 14 games in 2024, and catching 18 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Smith-Schuster was the leading receiver on the 2022 championship team, catching 78 passes for 933 yards in the Super Bowl season.
The team also agreed to a one-year deal with running back Kareem Hunt, worth up to $2.5 million. Hunt will join a running back room that returns Isiah Pacheco from injury, and also added former San Francisco 49er Elijah Mitchell last week.
Hunt was a 2017 draft pick of the Chiefs, and led the team in rushing last season with 728 yards and seven touchdowns, following an injury to Pacheco. The running back has 5,164 rushing yards in his eight-year career.
