Chiefs Sign Backup QB

The Kansas City Chiefs have a new backup quarterback, agreeing to a one-year deal with Gardner Minshew.

Minshew will replace Carson Wentz as the primary backup to Patrick Mahomes, after Wentz became a free agent following the season.

Minshew is 28 years old and started nine games for the Las Vegas Raiders last season, posting a 2-7 record with 2,000 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and ten interceptions. He suffered a season-ending broken collarbone against the Broncos in November.

The former Washington State star has played in 59 NFL games, throwing for 68 touchdowns and 34 interceptions total. He has spent six seasons in the league, spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Raiders.
