Bobby Witt Hit by Pitch, No Fracture

Kansas City Royals fans held their breath, after star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr exited yesterday's spring training game following being hit by a pitch on the arm.

The injury happened in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Witt was plunked by a 96 mph fastball from Seattle Mariners reliever Andres Munoz. Witt immediately crumpled in pain, and would later exit to the dugout with the training staff.

Fortunately, Witt was diagnosed with a forearm contustion with x-rays coming back negative, and no signs of fracture found in the arm or wrist area. Manager Matt Quatraro says there was immediate concern regarding the injury.

Witt will be monitored on a day-to-day basis, and is expected to be ready for Opening Day, which is two weeks from today against the Cleveland Guardians.
