Neodesha Girls Prepare for State

The Neodesha Blue Streaks girls basketball team punched their ticket to state over the weekend, and are one of the final eight teams competing for the state title.

The Blue Streaks are 18-3 on the season, and beat Fredonia, LaCygne Prarie View, and Frontenac on their way to a sub-state championship. Head Coach Justin Pierce says the team does a great job of buying in on the defensive end.

Neodesha is the No. 7 seed for the state tournament, and match up with the 22-1 Halstead Dragons, whose lone loss came to No. 1 seed Hesston. Pierce says the Dragons are a talented and deep team.

The state tournament takes place at the Hutchinson Sports Arena, with plenty of people making the trip to see a champion crowned. Pierce says the biggest key will be to manage the nerves and emotions.

The Blue Streaks tip off at 2 p.m. CT tomorrow afternoon, looking to advance to the state semifinals.
