For the second consecutive offseason, a talented young Chiefs wide receiver has been arrested in Texas.
2024 first-round pick Xavier Worthy was arrested yesterday on alleged assault charges, stemming to a dispute with a housemate. Worthy was booked by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
The charge is read as assault on a family or household member, in which breath was impeded, indicating some form of choking. Under Texas law, the charge is a felony, and could result in up to 10 years in prison.
The Chiefs released a statement that they are gathering information regarding the situation.
Worthy had 59 catches for 638 yards and nine total touchdowns as a rookie out of the University of Texas, and caught two touchdowns in last month's Super Bowl.
