Field Kindley boys basketball is headed to the Sub-State championship after a 64-60 win over Holton in overtime.
The first round of Sub-State was everything you could ask for in a playoff game. Holton took a 15-11 after the first quarter, but the Nado answered right back taking a 29-28 lead into halftime.
The Wildcats used great shooting from beyond the arc to keep themselves in the game shooting 6/13 in the first half. That shooting would continue into the third quarter as Holton would outscore Coffeyville 15-8 to take a 43-37 lead. The Nado caught fire to start the fourth quarter with Jake Horner and Jaxon Hershey hitting back to back to back threes as Coffeyville took a 46-45 lead. The Nado outscored Holton 18-12 in the fourth quarter and forced overtime tied at 55.
After a back-and-forth start to OT, a Horner layup with the game tied at 60 would give Coffeyville the go-ahead bucket. Horner would sink a free throw to put the Nado up four and then after a miss on his second free throw KK Austin would seal the Sub-State Championship birth with a steal.
Coffeyville is back in action tomorrow taking on Baldwin on the road with a State Tournament birth on the line. Tip-off is at 7:00pm on Sonshine 98.9 KQQF.
