Moustakas to Retire a Royal

A World Series champion and one of the best power hitters in franchise history will be returning to Kauffman Stadium to officially retire.

Third baseball Mike Moustakas announced his retirement from baseball earlier this week, and will be honored on May 31st in Kansas City, signing a one-day contract to retire where his career began.

General Manager J.J. Picollo says this is a celebration that makes sense for a player like Moose.

Moustakas spent eight seasons in Kansas City, hitting .251 with 139 home runs while helping the team to two American League pennants and the 2015 World Series title. Moustakas says he always wanted to end his career in KC.

The retirement ceremony will be pregame of the May 31st matchup with the Detroit Tigers.
