Caney's Big 2nd Quarter Leads To Win Against Columbus

The Caney Lady Bullpups used a big 2nd quarter to propel them to a 60-35 victory over Columbus in game one of the 3A Sub State tournament.

Caney outscored the Lady Tigers 18-0 in the 2nd after scoring 18 in the 1st quarter; Caney led 36-12 at halftime.

A big reason for the win was the low post play of Sarah Martinez, who led Caney with 21 points. However, the 3's were falling as well. Elyn Washburn had 18 points including four 3-pointers and Gracie Eden added two 3's. Alex Theiss and Audrey Regis also hit threes for the Lady Bullpups.

Caney will travel to Burlington Tuesday night, after Burlington defeated Galena tonight 47-16. Both Burlington and Caney improve to 14-6 on the season.

Tip-off will be at 6:00, with pregame around 5:45 on Greatest Hits 104.1.
