Mixed results for the Nado in a doubleheader with Chanute to kick off Alumni Weekend.
The Lady Nado got off to an outstanding start, leading 20-7 after the opening quarter. The Blue Comets were able to chip away at the deficit in the third quarter, after trailing by as much as 17, and got it down to a nine point game. However, big shots and stops late allowed Coffeyville to secure a 58-33 win in the opening game.
Eryn Lopez led the team with 15 points, while Kaylin Caron also finished in double figures.
The boys played from behind for the entire game, trailing by as much as 11, and unable to reach the top of the mountain in terms of a comeback bid. The team did cut it down to a one-point game with 20 seconds left after a KK Austin jumpshot, but clutch free throws from Kris Harding and Elliott Stephenson allowed the Blue Comets to hang on and win, 49-46.
Both Austin and Jake Hoerner finished in double figures for the Nado. Both teams will be back in action on Monday night against Parsons.
