A talented senior basketball player at Iola High School made program history earlier this week.
Senior Corland Carson had 25 points in a 56-54 win over Anderson County, and with the performance, became the first Iola boy in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
Carson has had a remarkable senior season, ranking No. 12 in the state in points per game, with 21.6 per contest. Carson has also been efficient in his scoring, shooting 40% from the field and 38% from 3-point range.
Cortland has helped the Mustangs to a 7-11 record this season, and will look to make a postseason run in the coming week. Iola's next game is a road contest on Monday night against the Wellsville Eagles.
